I live in Playa del Carmen and have been to Isla Mujeres several times using different modes of transport. Also, Uber is not an option since they are are not allowed into the airport or in Cancun. However, if for any reason you still want to bring your own car to the island, you can do that by taking the car ferry to Isla Mujeres Ultracarga operated by Ultramar from Punta Sam ferry terminal. The boats are big, spacious, very stable and it is a very short ride! Some rooms come with private plunge pools with a view.
